Why minify CSS
CSS files fill up with comments, indentation and spaces that help humans but mean nothing to browsers. Removing them shrinks the file.
What it removes
- Comments
- Extra whitespace around selectors and rules
- Unnecessary spaces around punctuation
Always keep your original, readable stylesheet as the source of truth and minify a copy for the live site.
